Before testing URL blocking, require your users to set the Web client’s HTTP proxy
to point to IWSVA.
-
For a stand-alone proxy, set the Web client’s HTTP proxy to point to IWSVA (for example,
open Internet Explorer and click Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > Use a proxy server).
-
For an upstream proxy, set the Web client’s HTTP proxy to point to IWSVA (for example,
open Internet Explorer and click Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > Use a proxy server). Open the IWSVA console and click HTTP > Configuration > Proxy Scan in the navigation menu and enable the Dependent Mode. Type the proxy address and the port number.
To Test URL Blocking:
-
Open the IWSVA console and click HTTP > URL Access Control > Global URL Blocking in the navigation menu and select Enable URL blocking.
-
In the Match field, type the full Web address, URL keyword, or the exact-match string.
-
Click Block, and then click Save.
-
Open a Web browser and try to access the blocked Web site, URL containing the string,
or the exact-match string.
