EICAR Test Virus Parent topic

The European Institute for Computer Antivirus Research (EICAR) has developed a test "virus" you can use to test your IWSVA installation and configuration. This file is an inert text file whose binary pattern is included in the virus pattern file from most antivirus vendors. It is not a virus and does not contain any program code.
Obtaining the EICAR Test File:
Download the EICAR test virus from the following URLs:

Alternatively, you can create your own EICAR test virus by typing the following into a text file, and then naming the file eicar.com:

Flush the URL cache (HTTP > Configuration > URL Cache), the Content Cache (HTTP > Configuration > Content Cache), and your local browser before testing. If either cache contains a copy of the test virus, it's possible an attempt to download the file would get the file from the cache, rather than getting it from the Internet, thus IWSVA would not detect the file.
