To optimize performance and currency IWSVA uses the following component files: Virus pattern, Bot, Spyware, IntelliTrap and IntelliTrap exceptions, and Scan engine. You can manually check for updates at any time. However, Trend Micro recommends that you also schedule IWSVA to update automatically and notify you if the operation is not successful.
Recommended settings
  • Virus, Spyware, Bot, IntelliTrap and IntelliTrap exception patterns, Smart Scan Agent, Script Analyzer, Protocol Information Extraction—Hourly. Set for non-peak hours. If a problem occurs, IWSVA will inform you immediately so you can perform a rollback with minimal loss of coverage.
  • Scan engine—Weekly, during work hours. IWSVA will inform you immediately if a problem occurs so you can perform a rollback.
  • Advanced Threat scan engine—Weekly, during work hours. IWSVA will inform you immediately if a problem occurs so you can perform a rollback.
  • URL filtering engine—Weekly, during work hours. IWSVA will inform you immediately if a problem occurs so you can perform a rollback.
